Our Team

Two brothers, Mickey and Brian, started Kellerman Consulting in 2017 to bring together their passions for problem-solving, education, and helping others. Over the years, our family-owned company has added full-time food safety and quality management system consultants throughout the country to the team. Responsive, straightforward, and dedicated to their clients, the Kellerman Consulting team has developed a reputation for getting successful results.

Brian is passionate about food safety and quality management systems, as well as food production in all of its forms. Having participated in all aspects of food production, from farm to factory to restaurant, Brian brings a unique understanding of issues touching our food systems, and brings that passion to each and every client engagement.

As the Co-Founder & Chief Quality & Food Safety Officer of Kellerman Consulting, Brian is responsible for overseeing all food safety and quality documentation, as well as working with clients to help them implement these programs. Brian is a registered SQF Consultant, BRCGS Certified, HACCP Certified (Seafood, USDA & Retail), PCQI Certified for Human Food and Animal Food, FSSC 22000 certified and ISO 9001 certified. Since the beginning of 2017, Brian has written over 600+ food safety plans for 600+ clients in 50 states.

Brian Kellerman was born and raised in Columbus, Ohio, and has spent 17 years working in food production. Starting with a four-month engagement working a banana operation in Israel, Brian developed a love of food production that led to a degree in Ecological Agriculture from the University of Vermont, as well as farming experience in Maryland and New Zealand. As a science teacher, Brian helped to organize a maple sugaring program and a hydroponic system, as well as a fully-working vegetable garden on campus. Starting in 2014, Brian ran the Food Safety & Quality Assurance program for a dry spice blend and nutraceutical manufacturer located in Columbus, managing a GFSI-certified quality and food safety program that produced over 5 million pounds of food annually before joining his brother Mickey in 2017 in starting Kellerman Consulting.

As President of Kellerman Consulting, Mickey is responsible for directing sales, marketing, finance, administration and strategy. Mickey has 18 years experience in various leadership roles in the food industry, financial sector and manufacturing sector.

Born and raised in Columbus, he returned home in 2016 from a 16-year stint in Chicago to team up with his brother Brian to found Kellerman Consulting, a Food Safety Consulting company that believes that in order to be a great professional services company, you must be able to solve your customer’s biggest problems. An avid cook, gardener and admirer of delicious food, it’s been a dream come true for Mickey to have the opportunity to bring value to the food industry by getting results for his clients.

Mickey has a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering from Northwestern University. He spends his free time cooking, gardening, writing music, playing synthesizer and performing with his band Syzygal.

Laura Swanson joined the Kellerman Consulting team in 2022 as a Food Safety Consultant. With nearly two decades of experience and over a decade of working with GFSI systems specifically, Laura has a passion to help our clients navigate the world of food safety. Laura obtained her Masters in Food Science and Technology from Oregon State University in 2007.

Tim worked for three years at the Licking County Health Department as a health inspector where he obtained his certification as a Registered Sanitarian.

Originally from Sandwich, Massachusetts, he joined the Kellerman Consulting team in July 2019. Tim obtained a B.S. in Environmental Science and a B.S. in Regional Planning from Westfield State University in Westfield, Massachusetts in 2015. Tim moved over to the private sector to pursue a career in food safety technical writing and consulting.

Tim brings years of food safety experience to the table for our clients and has also completed the following certifications: Registered SQF Consultant, Registered Sanitarian, Ohio; Registered Environmental Health Specialist; FSPCA Preventive Controls for Human Food certification; Internal Auditing – Basic/Advanced Certification.

Carissa has a strong passion for food safety and quality. She has experience working in startup
environments and has helped these teams build their food safety programs from the ground up.

She has worked with teams to achieve their first ever food safety and SQF certifications and knows what it takes to maintain those certifications. She has served as a PCQI in her previous roles and enjoys working cross-functionally to build and improve food safety programs and foster a positive food safety culture.

Carissa obtained a B.S. in Biology from Saint Mary’s College of California and has completed the
following food safety certifications: FSPCA Preventive Controls for Human Food, Implementing SQF Systems, Advanced HACCP, and Juice HACCP.

In her free time, Carissa enjoys cooking and spending time with her husband and pets.

As a Business Support Manager for Kellerman Consulting, Phoebe Kellerman is responsible for many of the behind-the-scenes activities that allow our consulting team to focus their time and energy on solving our clients’ toughest food safety problems. Coming from a family of professional chefs and bakers, Phoebe learned the importance of food safety and quality assurance at a young age.

Matt has a realistic and thorough approach to Food Safety and Quality programs.  He truly enjoys working with teams to develop programs that ensure high quality and safe food.  Matt brings a passion for food safety and nearly two decades of experience working closely with multiple departments within food facilities to help our clients develop successful value-added programs.

Matt obtained a B.S. in Earth Science from Buffalo State University and holds certifications for IDFA HACCP, Better Processing, PCQI, and ISO 9001.  He has also participated in multiple training programs at Penn State and Cornell University.

Prior to joining Kellerman Consulting, Matt was the lead on achieving and maintaining FSSC 22000, ISO 9001, BRCGS, and USDA Organic certifications for several companies.  He also successfully implemented and managed the Quality department for a new large scale extended shelf-life dairy facility, including achieving SQF certification for the facility.  Matt has experience developing and administering training programs for Food Safety and Quality programs, including regulatory requirements, via both electronic and classroom methods.

In his free time, Matt enjoys spending time outdoors with his family, especially boating and fishing.  He also likes to BBQ and grill for friends and family.
